The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has confirmed the arrest of its President, Joe Ajaero by the Department of State Servicesat the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The NLC head of Information Benson Upah who confirmed the arrest to newsmen said Ajaero was arrested on Monday on his way to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.
Upah in a statement, said the union does not know where he had been taken but said Ajaero sent a message saying it was the DSS that arrested him.
He described the DSS action as a brazen act of lawlessness and intimidation.

The NLC president was billed to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London, which begins on Monday.
Ajaero’s arrest came about a week after he honored an earlier invitation by the police over allegations of “criminal conspiracy, financing terrorism, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime”.
He left the police headquarters on the same day after writing a statement but was however invited again for further questioning but this time he was invited alongside the Secretary General of the NLC, Emmanuel Ugboaja.
